Rukka Hi-Vis vest
Its a hi vis vest. What else is to be said? Is it hi vis? Yes. Is it a vest? Yes. All good then. At which point you look at the price and think someones moved the decimal point a place or two to the right. But dont be fooled. As MS would say this isnt just any hi vis vest. Now, I have other hi vis vests. Ive worn them on the bike. Theyre flappy, buzzy and bloody annoying. And theyre hot they dont allow my jacket to breathe in warm weather. Long story short I dont wear them on the bike anymore. This is none of those things. It fits snugly yet again the Motolegends size guide is spot on and doesnt buzz, flap, ride up or do anything to remind you its there. It just gets on with being highly visible. And breathable. And tough. In fact it is made of a material almost as robust as my summer mesh jacket. Its a hi vis vest that feels way more substantial than anything else hi vis Ive ever come across. But the price. The price is, well, significant. However, if you want to buy the absolute best hi vis you can Carlsberg if were doing more advert taglines then you have to buy this one. However I didnt pay full price, and this is the best bit. I looked around online and found it significantly cheaper elsewhere, so Motolegends did their thing and beat that already superb price by a full 10, just as they promise. What a winner and this vest thus came in at a far more reasonable price. Highly recommended, it really is that good.
Stadler Supervent 3 jacket in black / grey
Ive been riding 50 years and this Stadler kit is the best. I cover 300-400 miles a week, all year around, in all weathers and it has never leaked. I recommend a Rukka type down jacket underneath as its not the warmest in the Winter, but that means its not too hot in the Summer either. Neck extension is good, although expensive and fits into the small pocket on the back. Back protector is long and hard and gives you lots of confidence in its safety. The German police use this kit and its obvious why. After years of what I thought was good, expensive kit, this is the absolute best and will probably outlast me !
Stadler 4All Pro trousers in grey
Very comfortable on and off the bike once broken in with a few miles of use. A recent wet and cold tour to Scotland proved them to be absolutely waterproof. The lack of wetting out is lovely, I dont miss having to put on my old drop liner trousers that would still be wetted out from the previous days riding. Some layering is required when the temperature drops, especially if youre ambitious enough to think it might be warm enough in Scotland in June to leave the thermal liner at home. I havent tested the ventilation yet as, for warm weather local riding, I switch to single layer jeans. The quality and construction of the trousers is excellent. The substantial armour and use of Superfabric gives me confidence in the safety of the 4All Pros. I ended up in a completely different size to what Id anticipated. A visit to Guildford for the usual excellent MotoLegends shop service was essential. Being of a robust stature with a particularly short inseam, the extra short leg length was perfect and these are the first off-the-peg trousers to fit me properly. In truth, Stadler is probably overkill for the amount of riding that I do, but I was happy to pay for the quality.
