Dainese ladies Carve Master 3 GTX jacket in black

Sue B: Style, Substance Comfort

The fabric, adjustable waist straps poppers on the biceps make this a super comfortable jacket that actually fits a female shape. There are vertical zips on the side seams to expand the hem of the jacket for extra comfort whilst sitting on the bike. I personally dont like the thermal neck liner because it is bulky, but removing this wearing a neck warmer still keeps you warm draft free. A really nice feature at the next is a Velcro panel to hold open the neck flap to circulate air during the hot weather. The vents pockets are positioned well, although the pulls on the zips to the storm pockets are a bit fiddly to use because they are so small and have no tags. Sara was excellent helping me choose the right jacket for my needs I would definitely try on the Daniese jacket before buying because the Italian sizing seems to be on the small side compared to other European brands.

John: Stylish, but not perfect

I needed a new waterproof jacket to wear to the office and for recreational use, not touring. I looked at two jackets, the Carve Master and the new Halvarsson Vinvallyn. Both jackets had stretch incorporated and both were comfortable to wear. The colour options on the Vinvallyn were boring and you dont get a Gore liner, so I opted for the Dainese. Ive lived with the jacket for a couple of weeks and these are my observations. Its stylish and comfortable, but far from perfect. The insulating liner is rubbish and was therefore discarded. The neck liner seemed a good idea, but is secured by just four tiny poppers, that constantly come undone. Its now also consigned to the bin! The neck strap is secured by a small piece of velcro, which isnt that secure and has come undone! This is obviously a commuting jacket, so why have a huge map pocket on the back? Finally, the two front pockets are far from generous, despite appearances! Venting on both jackets is good, although there is no exhaust vent on that back of the Dainese. The Dainese is nearly a £100 more than the Vinvallyn and I think the Vinvallyn is the better jacket overall. Plus, if needed, you can get a proper pair of trousers that are comfortable and come in various leg lengths. Thus, you then have a very practical touring outfit. But, you dont get the lifetime warranty that you do get with a Gore lined jacket.
