Halvarssons Warm Wool Polo sweater in grey Product Information
Merino makes for the very best layers. And that’s because Merino wool has an extraordinarily wide range of capabilities. Because of the construction of the fibres, it wicks moisture very effectively. For similar reasons it traps a lot of air, meaning that it’s a great insulator of body heat. It can also hold a lot of moisture (sweat), without the wearer feeling wet. Finally, for horrid biological reasons we don’t want to discuss, it can be worn for long periods without smelling! Halvarssons’ Long Wool garments are made from 100% Merino. The weight is quite heavy, meaning that it definitely falls into the category of a mid-layer rather than a base-layer. We have not been given a weight, but our estimate is that it is equivalent to a 300 g weight in Icebreaker. It is definitely more about cold weather than about warm weather.

Adam: Comfortable winter base-layer
A well made, warm and comfortable top. The thumb holes are mainly useful but give the wrist too much length and bulk if rolled back under a shirt off the bike. 4 stars because my first impression was a lack of body length compared with my favourite base layers. It hasnt gapped at the waist but a few more inches here would have been appreciated and cemented full marks for design, quality and cost.

Shaun the Sheep: The Mercedes S-Class of base layers
This Warm Wool Polo is the Mercedes S-Class of base layers. Occasionally, a good spec on paper in this case, 100 merino wool is an exceptional product in the real world. Its cossetting, coddling and comfortable across a wide temperature range even better than similar merino products Ive had. Ive used numerous premium motorcycle base layers, including Rukka and the earlier version of Halvarssons merino polo, but none matched this Warm Wool Polo. Its beautifully made even better than my Rukka base layers. Halvarssons makes dependably good base layers, but they hit it out of the comfort park with the Warm Wool Polo.
David Aldridge: Halvarssons base layer
Great product, hate being puffed up with many layers ,will wear it to the pub on a cold evening , very happy !
Paul: Warm and beautifully made
I am a huge fan of Merino due to its versatility and anti-bacterial qualities used properly you can avoid taking seven tops on a trip and get by with three! Icebreaker remains my go to brand, but recently prices have been creeping up and a similar spec top like this could cost you twice as much. Lovely fit and feel and works well as a base layer or an early day mid layer. Fab value.
