Rukka ladies Active-R jacket in black

Rukka's ladies Active-R mid-layer jacket is, on one level, neither one thing nor t'other.

 

It's not a superlight, windproof layer like Klim's Zephyr jacket. Nor is it an amazingly effective, insulating layer like, say, a 200g merino top from someone like Icebreaker.

 

It is designed for the bike; and it is going to provide some protection from the wind, and it will insulate body heat to a degree, but there are warmer and more windproof garments out there.

 

The Active-R is an in-between jacket. It's about making you a little bit warmer and more comfortable on a chilly day rather than a freezing cold one. 

 

But I think this is a jacket that has been created for those who want something really comfortable to wear off the bike. And the Active-R, with its four-way stretch outer material, is as comfortable as any motorcycle mid-layer that you'll ever come across.
