Rukka Kalix 2.0 jacket in black Product Information

The Kalix 2.0 is an evolution of its predecessor: the Kalix. But so different and so much better is the new version that we believe it was a mistake to even give it the same name. The old Kalix was a stiff and uncomfortable, 3-layer, Pro-Shell laminated jacket with no bells and whistles; not even venting. We did not like it and declined to offer it. It was not nice to wear and, furthermore, in our view it was over priced. Whilst similar in concept, the new version shows how simple but significant changes can totally transform the wearability of a garment. The new Kalix 2.0 is now a 2-layer, Performance Shell jacket. This makes it much easier to wear and much more comfortable, yet it still comes with a six-year warranty,(on registration). Importantly, it now has venting that is better than any jacket in the Rukka range, with the exception of the off-road oriented Kallavesi. Rukka has achieved great things with this jacket, and they have done so whilst managing to lower the price. Of course, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, so the new Kalix is missing some parts; namely a thermal liner and a back protector. But both of these are easy fixes. And we take the view that not having what would have undoubtedly been nothing more than an average thermal liner in a jacket at this price point leaves the way open for the rider to implement his own preferred solution. We have come to the conclusion that, at the top end of the market, there is nothing that can match the Rukka Nivala for wearability. At just half the price of the Nivala, there is now nothing to match the Kalix 2.0 either!

Alex: Does what it says. So well.

I bought this some time ago and left off reviewing for a bit. Today seems a good time. It was wet today. Not biblically wet but not far short. I had to stop a couple of times and my head got soaked just walking between bike and shop. I didnt mind. At all. Because the time I was on the move, I was so dry. I was so warm and comfortable that the rain was almost incidental. I know that you expect that, particularly with a jacket that aint cheap. But the feeling of comfort is so nice. The rest of the jacket lives up to the same high standards. Fits well, sufficient pockets, nice finish etc. But the main reason I got this was for days like today. Days I can now, if not look forward to, be pleased I bought this.

Extremely well made. Very comfortable and waterproof. Ive learned the hard way you get what you pay for. Definitely buy this jacket!!!

Alex: Superbly comfortable and practical

Upgraded to this after a considerable amount of research and soul searching. Out in a deluge today and my top half remained bone dry. My lower half ... not so much. An old pair of trousers got completely wet. I can see a new purchase coming.... The team in Guildford are always exemplary and this was no exception. I also found the price beat promise a great incentive.

A great jacket, comfortable, not complicated with lots of un-necessary external zips and pockets, easily zips onto the pants. It would be better if the back protector was included. Cuffs are big enough to go over the largest gloves - I take size 10.

Well done to Motolegends, delivery was on time and they price matched -10 as advertised. Unfortunately I had a small problem with my jacket that was no fault of Motolegends, the sales team sorted out the problem like a F1 pit crew, 1st class service. The jacket is great value for money especially if like me you already have a mid layer your happy with, its a good feeling not having to pay for the extras your not going to use. The jacket is very comfortable on and off the bike, 100 waterproof and comes with a 6 year warranty. If you get a price match its a no brainier.

This is pretty much a perfect jacket. Ive had Rukka jackets before and been prepared to put up with their suboptimal comfort in exchange for the quality and protection. This is altogether neater, easier to wear and an all round pleasurable experience on the bike.
