Klim Maverick down jacket in petrol blue
The Klim Maverick is for me the final element of the Motolegends layering concept. I have already put Klims Marrakesh and Zephyr jackets to the test, together with the Scott Ergo rain suit during a recent tour of northern Spain. The good news is those elements worked brilliantly well either in combination or individually to provide a comfortable riding solution for the prevailing weather conditions. Alas I have yet to put the Maverick to the ultimate test of wearing it underneath my Marrakesh whilst riding in cold weather. It might be early November here in the UK, but the weather is still unseasonably warm. What I can say is the Maverick is very lightweight and not at all bulky, its comfortable to wear and fits well beneath my Marrakesh jacket. In terms of warmth I have only worn the Maverick whilst walking, albeit not its intended use, but nevertheless it worked well keeping me plenty warm enough on a not so cold day. The Maverick also works very well as a destination jacket, the only clue to it being a motorcycle jacket is the brand name Klim. Whilst the jury remains out over its cold weather performance, the Maverick is looking good so far. Overall I am impressed with the quality and appearance of the product. Should it fail to live up to cold weather expectations I will update this review accordingly...
Rukka Down-X 2.0 jacket in black
Needed to run off to Greenland for a conference and a few days of hiking but didnt have any cold weather gear. Combined this with a Scott rain jacket and a lightweight merino base and it did great! Bought it to go under my Marrakesh and fits nicely. Looks good standalone, fit trim.
Klim Maverick down jacket in asphalt / black
This jacket isnt cheap but its great value. It just seems to disappear under your outer jacket and is SO warm and SO well put together. Anybody who owns any Klim gear already will know what Im talking about but if you dont then go and see Motolegends and find out for yourself. Brilliant bit of kit. Im almost looking forward to some cold weather now.
