Momo Submachine GTX boots in black Product Information
Submachine is a pretty aggressive name for a motorcycle boot, but then again this is a pretty aggressive-looking motorcycle boot. It unashamedly takes its inspiration from the high-speed tactical boots used by elite forces like the SAS and the Navy Seals. It shouts tough and rugged every bit as loudly as it does stealth. And if that’s not an oxymoron, then I don’t know what is.
The TCX Submachine boot is made from a mix of suede leather and some kind of synthetic material like Lorica. You get protectors for the toes, the ankles and the heel. The boot, of course, has a waterproof membrane. And this comes courtesy of Gore-Tex. We sometimes think that a Gore-Tex membrane on a short boot is a little unnecessary, but it means that the Submachine will be as waterproof as a short boot can be; and because we’re talking Gore-Tex it will be a breathable boot too. And on some missions that can come in handy. There’s a strong gearchange protector on the toe.
The sole is what TCX term a Groundtrax sole; actually, this is a brand name invented by the company. But it’s a tough and grippy sole, and it has a z-plate shank embedded into it for extra transverse rigidity.
The boot is nicely padded, so it’s going to be particularly comfortable for walking in, for riding and, if necessary, for breaching embassies in. In the heel there are numerous, soft, concertina panels; again with comfort in mind. Another neat touch is an elasticated strap that fastens by means of a military-grade, alloy, s-connector. This can be used to fasten the boot tightly around the ankle, but also comes in useful to prevent the laces from unfurling.
We like this boot a lot. In the latest James Bond movie, No Time To Die, Daniel Craig wore a pair of Danner tactical boots, but these would have been more than up to the job, especially in the motorbike scenes.
This is a well designed boot. It is different and interesting, and we reckon they’re going to be able to stand up to whatever abuse you want to inflict upon them.
They come in sizes 38 right through to 48. They cost £279.99. That’s not exactly cheap, but TCX normally work on a premium of £40 for a Gore-Tex membrane, (see the Dartwood vs the Dartwood GTX), so we think the price is about right.

Robert McGrath: Super Comfortable!!
I purchased these boots quite a while back and to be honest I wasnt really looking for boots of this type. Frankly they are the most comfortable boots Ive ever worn. And that includes non-motorcycle boots too!
Peter: amazingly comfortable
I bought these on a bit of a whim and they have become my go-to boots. Super comfortable, especially after I replaced the insole and easy to get on and off. I have been wearing these on a trip where the temperature hit 43C and I thought they would get very hot, but no. The membrane flows air very well and my feet didnt overheat. The gear shift protector is very robust ideal for a 1200GS... and they are also very comfortable to walk in. Highly recommended, especially at the current reduced price
Rob: So Comfy !
Incredibly comfy boots both on and off the bike, have walked around in them for hours on days out and they really are very, very comfortable. Love the styling but, as at least one other reviewer has said, the ankle strap is fiddly, especially once your trousers are on and tending to sitlie over the strap. Maybe Ill get more used to it, or just hook it somewhere else - I certainly wouldnt see it as a reason not to buy the boots, though, especially as theyre as great price 100524, too.
Paul F: Not worn in anger yet
As per my title I have not worn these Momo Submachine GTX boots in anger yet, but they are exactly the type of short boot I was looking for. Timing of the sale was excellent for me. I wanted a waterproof boot that also provided a more comfortable walking experience at stop offs on a long ride out. These boots are comfortable from the off for walking, have sat on my bike and they work well for gearshift and brake. the sole strength is apparent when standing on the pegs. I am looking forward to wearing these boots when the weather warms up a bit and will continue to use my longer boots during the winter. I hope the technical aspects of the boots is born out once I start to use them and understand the fact that a short boot may get water in the top but these boots will be mainly used in warmer weather far from home with GOR-TEX weather proof membrane for the inevitable downpour. My rating score of 45 is based on the fact that I have not used them on the bike yet, but I have high hopes!
Harry: Short waterproof boots
Another bit of kit from Motolegends that I didnt know I needed! They will really come into their own when I ride to a venue where I will be doing a fair bit of walking. They are more supple than conventional ankle boots, but provide protection when riding. They will be my short boot of choice in future.
PaulB: Momo Sub GTX
Usual great service from Motolegends, with updates on despatchdelivery. Boots look to be well made, fit very well and are comfortable. Very limited use yet as its mid-winter in Scotland and waders would be more appropriate footwear, but I have no doubt these will be as good as they look when the sun comes round again..
AllyD: Comfiest bike boots Ive owned
I have bike boots for practically every situation. I came across these on motolegends and thought Id try them. So glad I did. Decent protection for a short boot and of course waterproof courtesy of the goretex membrane. I love the look on and off the bike. Super comfortable. Fits like a nice trainer. Even wear them for walking the dog occasionally. Small details like lace tidy, ankle strap and rubberised gear change toe pad add to quality feel.
Tony Taylor: Momo sub machine gun boots
These boots are great tuff light and flexible this is my first purchase from you I was kept informed of when my purchase will arrive thanks again for a great service
Andrew: Ankle boots submarine
I had many ankle boots .Always use gore-tex version because we are in UK. You dont know when ride in to rain even in sunny bright day.i had few pairs of jupiter from this company. It was very comfortable and durable. But the submarine is just better in every aspect. More comfortable with better sole ,better lace.just simply a very very good ankle boots.size is spots on.same as my trainers size. Hold your ankle properly.you can not feel it even all day long walking.so far this ones are best pair ankle boots ever wear.i hope last long because i love it.
Lawrence: Super comfortable
I bought these boots to use for a dual purpose , both for biking and as a hiking boot . These boots work perfectly for both purposes. Thay are very comfortable and waterproof, both have been tested extensively. As others have mentioned the clasp is very fiddly to attach , and I only use it when on the bike . Otherwise very pleased with my purchase. Many thanks Motolegends, for the brilliant offer you ran , and quick delivery.
Michael: Super Comfy
I tried the Momo Submarine GTX on at Motolegends earlier this year but decided to purchase the Klim Outlander GTX instead, mainly because of the Boa lacing making then easier to get on and off. Both boots felt comfortable. However given the recent 20 off on Black Friday the justification to buy the Momo Submarine a want not a need was too good an opportunity to let pass. They are super comfy from the get go and although the lacing system with elastic strap is not as efficient as the Klim, these are the kind of boots you can walk around in all day comfort off the bike. They are light, waterproof, stylish and apparently useful for storming embassies! Ordered these on Sunday and they arrived Tuesday so usual efficient service by DPD courtesy of Motolegends! Highly recommend!
Meng: Tcx momo submachine
So light and comfortable bought to use dual purpose as walking boot bike boot. Nice style as well
Jeremy: Comfy from day 1
My criteria for new boots is do they feel comfortable immediately?. I used to put up with blisters and break boots in slowly but no more! This makes online buying a challenge but not with Motolegends who have a great returns policy. On this occasion I was chuffed to find my new boots fit well, are comfortable and look good straight out the box. Im a size 10 and the size seems true. The elasticated ankle strap is a bit fiddly but gets easier as you get used to it. Ive worn them in extreme heat and in rain and theyre great.
David J W: Strong and Comfy!
After a slight stocking delay still typically prompt delivery and routinely well informed . Site and review summaries are very accurate and initial impressions very reassuring . Fit to size and immediately comfortable. Only quibble from me is down to old age and stiff joints - the little stretch s -hook and laces cover is a slight challenge but should ease with familiarity. Otherwise, First Class product and communication.
