Held Indoor bike cover 2 in blue Product Information
Held makes the best, outdoor bike covers. They're not the cheapest, but they are the best quality, most robust and most breathable bike covers you can buy. In most motorcycle shops you can buy bike covers for £20, I'm sure. But you could probably save yourself a few extra quid by taping some plastic bin liners together. Job done!
However, if you want to look after your bike, we reckon a good bike cover is worth the investment. And so when we heard that held would be doing an indoor bike cover we knew we would have to stock it.
Now an indoor bike cover does a slightly different job to an outdoor one. It's not so much about waterproofing and breathability; it's about protecting the paintwork.
Leave a bike in the corner of the garage, and it's only a matter of time before somebody tries to squeeze past it, and scratches it. Or something falls over, and leaves a mark. And so that's, essentially, what a bike cover does. It keeps the bike away from prying eyes, but it stops it from getting marked and knocked.
Typically, Held has gone the extra mile to source the perfect material for the job. Now at the bottom end of the market some makers just use plastic. A step up from that would be a knitted or woven material. Better, but not the last word in softness and pliability.
What held has used is a material called Vilene. Now Vilene is used a lot in the clothing business. Not on Savile Row perhaps, but it is what a tailor would use as an interlining to give a jacket some shape, whilst still being comfortable enough not to restrict movement. You might also find it used to build up the shoulders of a jacket.
Vilene is neither woven nor knitted. It is created with a web of fibres, in the same way as felt is produced. Whoever came up with idea of using it for a motorcycle cover was very clever. It's just perfect.
If you keep your bike indoors, but still want to protect it, this is the cover you want. For the right size for your bike, see the chart loaded as the second image. There are four sizes.
