D3O Ghost Level 2 knee or elbow armour with Velcro set Product Information
D3O, it would be no exaggeration to suggest, transformed perceptions about motorcycle armour. Its non-Newtonian formulation created a soft armour that became softer still as it absorbed heat from the body. But on impact it hardened to absorb the energy of a blow.
More recently, D3O came out with a new, beermat-thin armour called Ghost. Unlike usual armour it was totally flat, and simply moulded itself around the body joints that it aimed to protect. It delivered the same level of protection as traditional, shaped armour but the beauty of it was that you could barely feel you were wearing armour at all; especially off the bike.
This original Ghost armour proved hugely popular as many bikers upgraded to it from the protectors in their existing garments. But, for some, there was an issue; it only met the lower, Level 1 safety standard. Most people were relaxed about this because it was normally worn in lighter weight, more casual garments where traditional, shaped protectors often felt a little cumbersome.
Well now Ghost comes in a Level 2 configuration. Now, at the threshold, Level 2 armour is twice as protective as Level 1 armour, although that does not necessarily mean that Level 2 Ghost is twice as protective as Level 1 Ghost. But what we can be clear about is that it is more protective.
The new armour is thicker than its predecessor. The new armour is not totally flat; towards the centre it is thicker. In fact, in the centre Level 2 is twice as thick as level 1, but it is still extremely pliable and will not look, or feel, out of place in the lightest jean or summer jacket.
If you’re the kind of person who always wants to be as well protected as it’s possible to be, you need to look at D3O’s Ghost Level 2 armour. It’s pretty amazing. And as with Level 1 Ghost, it comes in two configurations.
The larger size does knees and elbows. The smaller size works for hips and shoulders. Both come with or without Velcro.
For illustrative purposes only, Velcro® is shown on the orange side however it does come attached to the black side.
PLEASE NOTE: the Ghost Level 2 armour is in our bulk warehouse and not in the Guildford shop.

Andrew: Upgraded knee armour
Got a pair of Rogen jeans Halvarsson but wasnt happy with the velcro attachment style and they had stiff knee armour. Used the velcro version of Ghost to updatereplace it Good stuff, hardly notice it at all when Im wearing the jeans
F D: Worthy upgrade from level 1
Using these in my PMJ Tourer, theyre a tight fit but they fit. These are thicker at the center than the Level 1s, but taper toward the edges which seem as thin as the Level 1 and are just as flexible throughout as the Level 1. Extremely comfortable as they become even more pliable with body heat. Since they do not cup theyre flat they dont stay in place as well but they are large enough that they cover my knees enough except for a direct rear-lateral impact. Fortunately I havent had to test them ever but they seem solidly put together and should add to the abrasion resistance of the pants. Another winner from D3O
Paul F: Great Armour for PMJ jeans
As mentioned in another review I wasnt overly impressed with the as fitted armour in my PMJ jeans albeit I was happy with the jeans themselves. I was a bit concerned that they wouldnt fit as the dimensions of the old and new armour were slightly different but fear not they fitted all ok with the Velcro allowing precise adjustment. It was a bit hit and miss initially as was a bit tricky to get it the right place but had to persevere.
Lee: Great Knee Armour for Draggin Jeans
I bought a new pair of new Draggin Jeans Cargo Trousers, but wasnt impressed with the Knee Armour that came with them. I had received newsletter emails from Motolegends saying that they now had stocks of the new D30 Level 2 Ghost Armour, so I ordered a pair of the Knee Armours with the Velcro Strip. They attach to the Kevlar Lining in a pocket inside the leg of the Cargos. Im very pleased with the Ghost Armour, its Level 2, so as good as you can get. Its also very thin and soft and I dont even notice that Im wearing it. No problem with the Knee Armour catching on my knee when Im off the bike either, like some of the thicker, stiffer Knee Armours that are about. Great Product for replacing older or uncomfortable knee armour in your Motorcycle Kit .
