Shoei JO helmet in black Product Information
The Shoei JO is not your traditional, classic, open-face jet helmet. Most of the helmets on the market are still very much based on the design of the original Bell from the 1950s. The JO is an updating of that original concept. In profile it has a more sloped shell that falls to a little upturned Kama tail at the neck. It has no poppers for a peak, but what it does have is a built-in, and adjustable, drop-down visor. The shell is the same Matrix composite fibre shell you find on many Shoei helmets. For a relatively low-profile fit, the shell comes in three sizes. The Bell may have more but, in terms of comfort and fit, there’s no comparison.
But what makes the JO such a brilliant helmet is that, as with all Shoei helmets, we have the ability to fit three different sizes of cheek pad and three different sizes of headliner into every single size. A perfect fit can never be totally guaranteed, but no other open-face on the market offers such scope for custom fitting. You’ll find the full specification in the bullet points, but if you’re looking for the last word in open-face sophistication, the JO is pretty much it.
In terms of a Shoei open face helmet, the only options are the JO and the Shoei Cruise 3.

Steve C: Noisy
I bought this helmet to wear on my Harley. It looks great, is beautifully made, and the visor is discreet, so you dont look nerdy on the cool-look Harley. The real issue is the level of noise when riding. But for this, I would have opted for 5 stars. To add some perspective, I only ever use ear plugs on a long run on my tourer. With this helmet, the high pitch whine sounds like a jet engine in each ear, even at 40 mph - I kid you not. It is so intrusive I can barely hear my Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes when Im riding! I will continue to use it, because it looks great, but ear plugs are a must folks.
Mark Vidler: Mr
It's very light and comfortable helmet. For me however I find it noisy compared to the Bell 500 but nothing a pair of foam ear plugs can't fix
