Rukka Voyage-R trousers in black Product Information
The Voyage-R pant has been designed to match the Voyage-R jacket, as the name suggests. The suit is basically a Nivala with stretch. The downside is that this pant is not as comfortable as the Nivala pant, but by removing the stretch from the fabric, and re-enforcing the knees and the hips with overlays of 1500 denier Cordura, Rukka has been able to accredit them to the higher AA level under EN170902. The Nivala is single-A rated. And so, even though both pants are the same in terms of impact protection, the Voyage-R pants are more abrasion resistant.
For waterproofing the Voyage-R pant is constructed with a 3-layer, Gore-Tex, laminated membrane. This, of course, is the last word in waterproofing and breathability. They come fitted with Rukka’s huge, level 2, D3O armour in the knees and hips.
A lot of the other stuff is what you’d expect. Ventilation openings on the thigh. Two external pockets. Connection zip. Adjustable leg bottoms with zips and Velcro flaps. Fittings for Rukka braces. Waist closure with double tightening. You also get Rukka’s AirCushion and Antiglide systems in the seat. The former enhances comfort and breathability. The later uses Keprotec to prevent sliding on the saddle. The pants also have stretch behind the knees, above the knees in the crotch, and below the waistband at the back.
The Voyage-R pants are less expensive than the Nivalas, but the Nivalas have stretch throughout, and come with a duck-down inner liner and braces. On a pari-pasu basis, the price differential is less than £10. And so, in essence, this comes down to a straight trade off between comfort and abrasion resistance.

ALC: Excellent
Difficult to fault, replacing some 20 year old Rukkas, these are such good quality and fit. Braces definitely worth it, and they do fit easily over Sidi Adventure boots.
Mike Woodford: The right trousers Grommet
As with jacket review these replaced my old Dianese Bruce trousers. They were almost perfect, slim fit, solid armour but they were a little short in the leg. The Rukka fit is less slim but the length is good with the excellent d30 armour arriving in the correct locations. I wish the zips at the bottom were longer to make life easier fitting over boots, and I dont see the reason for the additional Velcro straps. Its not needed in my view and adds complication putting on and removing the trouser. Only 1 pocket seems a bit mean too. But for the heavily discounted price at one of Motolegends Sunday sales - I couldnt resist.
Steve Dallen: The best
Reviewed before but happy to repeat. Excellent construction as youd expect from Rukka and comfy to wear and zip together with the jacket if required. Great price with the Pathfinder jacket from Motolegends, would certainly recommend to anyone riding outside the summer season.
David Buck: Quality Cool Weather Trouser
Despite Motolegends review of these pants, I have found them to be an excellent choice for cool weather riding. I had the misfortune to be out on the Motorway in a torrential downpour and these pants and jacket performed admirably. I wouldnt choose them for summer though due to the lack of any vents. The quality is amazing as is the feeling of protection the garment offers with the huge hipknee protection and the textile material they are made from.
Paul Williams: Great product
I have worn them a few times now and they are a brilliant fit and weather is never a worry
