Rukka Hybrid-R trousers in black Product Information
The Rukka Hybrid-R pant forms the lower partof a suit that was developed by the Finnish company in an attempt to combine the AA-rating of their Kingsley suit with the comfort of the single-A rated Rukka Nivala outfit. And indeed these pants are rated AA under EN 17092.
For waterproofing, the Hybrid-R is protected by a 3-layer, Gore-Tex Pro laminated membrane. So no wetting out. And waterproofing that is guaranteed for life.
You get huge, Level 2, D3O armour in the hips and knees. On the outside, panels of reinforcing Cordura 1500 are to be found on the knees and hips.
There are incoming and outgoing vents on the thighs. You get a connecting zip. Antiglide in the seat. Rukka's AirCushion system. Braces. Long zips up the legs. Reflective panels. An adjuster belt at the waist. And so on. As with all Rukka pants, theses trousers come in three leg lengths.
The Hybrid, surprisingly, has just an Outlast lining, so will be in need of something additional by way of insulation in colder weather.
The Hybrid-R pants lose the leather panels that run up the insides of the legs on the Nivala and Kingsley. This is replaced by a stretch material that runs all the way up the insides of the legs, and into the crotch area. This stretch material does not extend beyond the border of the Zone 3 area, so does not affect the pant's AA rating. Further stretch is to be found above, and behind, the knees.
The result is a riding pant that is nicer to wear than the Kingsley pant, but less comfortable than the Nivala pant. And so your challenge is to decide whether you are prepared to compromise on comfort over the Nivala in order to get a higher abrasion resistance rating.
