Halvarssons Wien jacket in lava Product Information
The Halvarssons Wien jacket is the CE approved replacement for the company's longstanding and hugely popular Prime jacket. Like the Prime, the Wien is constructed using a drop-liner membrane. The outer fabric is slightly more abrasion resistant than that used in the Prime but, as ever with Halvarssons, the material is backed in all the most vulnerable areas with a lining known as Hi-Art that increases the strength of the outer material by 500%. For warmth, the Wien comes lined with Outlast, but you also get an inner thermal jacket, made from Innoborne, that can be worn separately. Venting on the Wien is excellent, with two openings on the chest and an exhaust vent across the back. For fit, the Wien has adjustable, elasticated straps on both flanks, and it is this feature, in particular, that made its predecessor so wearable. Level 2 armour comes fitted in the elbows and shoulders. There's a pocket for a back protector, but we prefer to fit our own D30 protector that has been modified to take Velcro, rather than Halvarssons own, somewhat heavy protector. Obviously, the Wien can be zipped to any Halvarssons pant, but again we prefer to match the Wien with the laminated Wish pant rather than their drop-liner Wien trouser. We always opined that the Prime jacket with its Prince pant was the perfect combination for 95% of riders. We feel the same about its replacement: the Wien and Wish. HB: Great jacket
I bought this jacket for Europe tour, it was the right decision, it a lovely jacket, with a good ventilation, very comfortable, the inner thermal jacket is indeed very functional and looks so cool when you wear it alone, I taste it in a hard rain only the outer end of your sleeve will be soaked with water and the rest of the jacket was dry
Paulino: GREAT JACKET
This jacket is great. I really like it. It fits me a bit snug. I should have ordered the next big size. But I still like it a lot. Its great for the type of cold weather I ride in. I highly recommend this jacket. Its a bit pricey but worth it.
Gary Proctor: Amazing value
This jacket is everything it claims to be and more. Good styling, real comfort and fully adjustable. Zips on cuffs are excellent and easily managed with gloves on. Good venting but also lovely and warm. Then throw in the Sunday sale price and its phenomenal value . Thank you
Paul Lavender: Listen to Chris
With my jacket and helmet stuck in long term storage and facing 5 months off the bike I went for this jacket as a cost effective solution, being a cheaper alternative, and highly recommended by Sir Chris. Ive had a Rukka suit years ago which was super warm and dry , but I looked and felt like robocop. Then a cool Dainese laminate, which was comfortable, but zips were rubbish. So that went. That left me with a half a Celtic leather suit, so I took Chriss advice and bought the Wien- what a great jacket! Ticked all the boxes and looks pretty cool. Reality is most , like me self, wont be rained on for 3+ hours at a time, unless we do really long commutes or tour outside Europe. Ive done 4 hours in torrential rain in a light leather jacket, with a Scott waterproof, and rokker jeans and arrived at ferry dry, apart from a little moistness in the nethers, which was a problem with the Rukka anyway. So , unless you really want to blow c £2000 to complete the adventure image this is the jacket! Thanks motolegends for usual excellent service. P
chris: good fit, so far so good
The jacket looks to be of high quality and fits well although Im glad I went for one size up XL instead of L . Its very warm and matches well with the trousers I also bought. Ive not yet had chance to test it in really heavy rain so cannot say how really waterproof it is hence giving 4 not 5 stars so far
Alan S: High quality jacket
Having read many reviews of this jacket, I simply had to try one for myself. I was in the Motolegends shop for a new pair of boots . I took the opportunity to try the Wien jacket for size. The jacket had a quality feel, and was obviously very well designed and put together. Having just spent a fortune on the boots, the jacket had to wait. Then one Sunday morning to my surprise the jacket was on special promotion for just 24 hours. No brainer, ordered immediately. Very satisfied customer, well done Motolegends !
Geoff: Good all round jacket
The Wien jacket is for me a good all round fit. Size 50 jacket, 40in chest. A little tight on the elbow of the arms, with the lining in place and the original armour. Just enough room for typical winter bike under clothing. Elasticated side adjusters give snug and body hugging fit which notably reduces drafts naked bike. Collar is quite tight so Im struggling to squeeze in fleece collars and buffs, but the detachable storm cover for the neck is extra assurance. Velcro panels to fit a Halvarssons back protector, but no pocket for a alternative, although a D30 is available from ML. I hope it has the longevity of a previous elderly Halvarssons jacket.
Stephen D: Simply Brilliant
Did my research on YouTube and popped down to Motolegends to try the WienWish combo. Chris kindly suggested a modification to the jacket done at no extra cost!. After 18months of use on both naked and ADV bikes I could not be happier. The jacket is almost all year round as the venting is superb. Layered up in winter the jacketthermal liner is warm and dry the remarkable properties of the thermal liner lead me to believe some form of witchcraft is involved. I would opt for the soft D30 armor in the trousers as the standard knee protection is too rigid to walk around in. Great products and exceptional service
Spike: WOW, just wow!
I bought this jacket after finding Motolegends over on YouTube whilst looking for a replacement glove. Before I knew it I was longing for the Wein jacket and I took advantage of the price match promise and the result was this jacket, back protector and gloves for the rrp of the jacket alone. Well, back to the jacket, its just brilliant, lots of adjustability and oozes quality. Test ridden in gales on the motorway and around 5C, the best result is that I had nothing to say, no draughts, no collar rubbing or interference with my helmet when looking around, gloves in or out, the jacket caters for both. Proper chunky adjustable body armour that fits around your arms and shoulders that will be where its supposed to be should you ever need it. It is the highest rrp Ive ever spent on a jacket but I cant see how anything more expensive can give me more than this does. Great product review video, brilliant service and rapid delivery, overall a fantastic experience to buy something blind and be this satisfied.
