Helstons Trust jacket in dirty brown Product Information
The Helstons Trust jacket, shown here in a dark ‘dirty brown’, is made from a 1.1/1.2 mm cowhide. It has been waxed for a two-tone, shiny and matt finish. This waxing also serves to make the leather more impervious to the elements. The Trust comes with a fixed, waterproof membrane and a removable, aluminium-lined, thermal gilet. As with all Helstons jackets, you also get, as standard, CE armour in the shoulders, elbows and back. But what distinguishes the Trust jacket is its extensive use of accordion stretch panels. These panels serve to make the jacket more comfortable and easier to wear. They are to be found behind the shoulders, in the elbows but, most importantly, up the flanks. What this means is that you need to buy the jacket as tight as you can. Also available in black. On this one you really do need to watch our video.

The chart is quite accurate, but you should be aware of the fact that with its thermal liner and heavy back protector in place, the jacket is going to feel quite tight when you first put it on. Over time the leather will give, and the jacket will become more comfortable. If you order one size larger than you would normally, the jacket may well feel a little more comfortable when you initially put it on. But if you were then to remove the thermal liner and back protector for summer riding, it might well then feel too large.

Pedro Regina: Not for me
The jacket feels substantial, looks good and feels good to the touch. However, when I put it on it was quite tight (I have a 45" chest and bought the 3XL thinking that it would provide some room for , but it didn't). But that wasn't the only problem for me: the sleeves were quite tight too, particularly at the wrists, and a bit too long for my taste (I think it would less comfortable with gloves than it needs to be), and the jacket was very uncomfortable over the shoulders (a combination of the stitching and the shoulder armour, I assume). So, it wasn't for me. But it is a well made jacket that might very well suit others.

These jackets are a continental sizing and can come up on the small size although that should be reflected in the size chart. It is high quality and substantial leather that can take a while to loosen up.
