Held Southfield Urban gloves in black

The Southfield is a summer glove, so has no membrane, meaning that it won't be up to much in the rain.

 

It's about as plain and simple as a glove gets, but it's also about as comfortable as a glove gets. This having been said, the materials the Southfield is made from suggest that it's also going to be pretty protective one too. 

 

The back of the hand is made from a material known as Armalith. This is the same UHMWPE fabric that Rokker uses for its protective jeans. This material is infused with stretch. The palm is a goat leather, as are the sides and undersides of the fingers. Down the sides of the fingers, the leather is perforated for added breathability. On three of the fingers you get concertina stretch for easier articulation on the bike. There's a pad on the base of the palm to cushion a fall. There's a padded knuckle protector. The wrist fastens by means of a Velcro strap.

 

This is the kind of glove that some people, I think, call a bobber glove. It's a glove that doesn't really look like a motorcycle glove, although it clearly is in every way. Right down to the touchscreen sensitive index finger and thumb. The Southfield also has a visor wipe on the left hand, although we always find this a little bizarre on a glove without a membrane.

 

Overall, however, the USP of the Southfield is its comfort. This really is a lovely glove to wear. There are summer gloves that will flow more air, but few that will be nicer to ride in.
