Forma Swift Dry boots in brown

The Forma Swift Dry is a classic, trainer-style boot. We like the fact that it is a little taller, and therefore ostensibly a little bit more protective, than some boots in this category.

 

It's made from a full-grain leather. It has what Forma calls a double-density sole, with apparently a shock-absorbing heel insert. The boot also comes with a replaceable, cushioning footbed.

 

As you might expect, you get reinforced, but padded, inserts in the ankles. There are toughened counters in the toe and heel areas. Whilst the tongue is padded for extra comfort. The top of the shaft is similarly padded, again with riding comfort in mind.

 

The boot has a waterproof membrane;  in this particular case the membrane is by Drytex. And so, notionally, this is a waterproof boot, but what you have to understand is that a short boot will never be as waterproof as a taller boot. As the rain hits the road, it will bounce up; that rain may well wet the hem of your pants, and it may well then seep into the boots. If you get wet feet in a short boot like this, it doesn't mean that the boots are faulty. Rather it means that, if you wanted dry feet, you should probably have bought a taller boot!

 

And so the Swift Dry ticks most of the boxes you would expect to be ticked on a boot of this ilk. In truth, there is nothing spectacular about the boot. It is comfortable. It is protective. And the look is on point. The price, it has to be said, is one thing that does stand out. At £150, it represents excellent value.
