Warm & Safe 12v heated base layer shirt in black Product Information

There is heated clothing and then there is heated clothing. Warm & Safe heated gear is made by people who ride... the hardcore globetrotting kind of riding. The 12v Heat Layer shirt warms the body in seconds, yet it is designed to feel as part of the rider. The stretch fabric is a high tech garment that is tight fitting for optimal heat transfer while offering 6-8 heat panels insulated with 3M Thinsulate which are a soft and flexible alloy/silicon shapped for maximum heat transfer. The Shirt is machine washable, is very durable and lightweight. The base layer is designed to offer the greatest heat transfer performance with less insulation and power needed to deliver and retain heat. This shirt can also be packed away into a zippered pouch which is included. *Please note that these require the Warm & Safe Remote Controls in order to operate or plug into a 12 volt DC power source* Read our review on Warm and Safe heated clothing.

LenJ: Pretty good

Does what it says on the tin and cant really complain at the price. I bought this to replace a 12 year old Gerbing jacket liner which you wear over any base layers etc and can take on and off easily subject to the temp. Heat wise, good, not quite as warm as a jacket liner, but its meant to be worn next to the skin after all. Only complaint really would be that due to being a base layer, once its on its on and its not really practical to take on and off on a long journey, which means as daft as it sounds due to how well it works as a base layer you can end up being too warm when the temp rises, even if you turn it off.

Wayne: Buy this for the winter

Summer feels like the wrong time to review this product. Truth be told thats down to me being slow to review it. Rode throughout last winter with this heated shirt, usually with a light tee shirt underneath and a Rukka jacket, often without lining. Never felt cold and there was always more heat if I needed it. As others have said, its a real game changer and not having to wear bulky layers but feeling toasty makes winter riding a pleasure. It is important to make sure that the remote is communicating properly with the shirt before you set off. I had a couple of times when it didnt and had to pull over due to the obvious chill!

Stuart G: Game Changer

After years of being cold during the winter, I decided to look into heated clothing. I was drawn to the heated base layer after the Motolegends YouTube video. The base layer is a heavier weight than a traditional base layer but lighter than the jackets on offer from the main competitor. I went out for a ride on Christmas day in the Eastern side and can attest to how warm and comfortable the product is. Combined with the dual controller it is very easy to adjust on the move. I have used it on a number of occasions and have now purchased the glove liners.

Wayne: Simply the best

The Warm Safe base layer lives up to all the great reviews. Having used it at temperatures close to freezing I think that its wonderful. Winter riding becomes a delight, super warm without the bulk of other heated gear that Ive used. Highly recommended.

Rich from Yorkshire: Excellent bit of gear

Very good bit of kit complements the layer up principle so this heated vest with down inner jacket and then Klim Lattitude outer jacket is perfect. I use a Gerbing controller for heat control becsuse I already had it and it works fine - same fittings and same polarity. Sizes are mostly spot on for normal size in shirts etc so easy to order on line. Comes with a neat bag so thT you can keep it separate to other gear in your luggage. I take it with me when I am touring so that I can manage with my Klim jacket to have hot weather and cold weather options without huge packing issues. My Gerbings gloves also work well with it so that in cold or wet weather I can keep dry and warm. This kit was exactly what I was looking for. Motolegends delivered to me the following day std delivery on this item and were easy to deal with. Also good review on line about the heated vest.

Glenn: The perfect heated gear

I have heated vestsjackets gear from Keiss which are good and has served well for many years. Main issue was the bulk added when wearing the vest or coat under my Rukka Nivala jacket. Had looked at the warm and safe heated shirt for sometime and decided to give it a go. This is a superb item tested in all weathers and works as a base layer at the same time if you do not need the heat turned on. To be able to adjust the heat via the bluetooth controller is a great touch as it is easy and safe. Size is true to size.

Peter: Works well

I wear this under Rukka gear with a fleece jumper over it. Ive not yet needed to have it above 30 to stay warm as toast. I did try it on its top setting just to see how hot it is, had to turn it down after only a few seconds. Might add the pants too.

GR: Perfect for cold winter days

Fits well, snug without being restrictive, infact dont know you are wearing it once you get going. I thought the wires might be intrusive being so close to the body but you dont really notice them. Only worn it in temperatures down to 3 Celsius, but WOW its warm havent had the controller above 25 and I was absolutely toasty. I personally think its better than a heated jacket as you dont have any of the bulk. which makes for a comfortable ride. Looks expensive but to be honest I think it represents good value if you ride in cool or cold conditions. Excellent and highly recommended.

AustinW: Good....but

I bought this to replace a warm and safe heated jacket. Its thinner, lighter, more comfortable so fits under your bike jacket much better. Lovely and warm, mostly. And thats my but. There is no heat on your stomach, so for us gentlemen who arent as slim as we used to be thats plenty of cold flesh. The rest of me is warm and toasty but my belly is cold, uncomfortably cold like my jacket has pulled up or the zip is partially undone. I passed my old jacket onto someone else. I wish I hadn't as on a proper cold long ride I don't think this base layer would pass muster. Its a failing that needs addressing imho.

JERRY: JUST THE JOB!!

Wondered about heated gear for some time so got this to try reduce bulky layers. well what a result, have been out in 5c weather wearing only this shirt a summer mesh jacket for an extreme test was toasty. control set to 12-34. I am a stocky 44 chest ordered a large. glove liners next on the list. just hope it proves to be reliable!!.

Stew: Brilliant bit of kit

A game changer for me. Very effective, most times I have to turn it down! The great. thing is it allows you cut down on bulky layers. Ive coupled the base layer with the glove liners, a great solution to bulky gloves as they work great in my Held score gloves. Can't recommend highly enough!

Barry: Superb piece of kit.

This has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made for motorcycling. It absolutely transforms your level of enjoyment when the weather is a bit cold. Had several rides in the North Pennines when temps were 2C to 8C. Absolutely great! Just turn up the heat on the remote, mounted on your bars, as you need it, and relax in the blissful warmth. Don't worry about the price its well worth it! Cant imagine ever riding without it!

Andrew: Superb

I have had the chance to use this shirt on two long distance rides since buying it. In some very cold conditions it has kept me very warm and comfortable. I have only turned it up to the highest setting to see what it feels like. It does the job nicely on low to medium settings.

Michael Williams: Excellent

Ive only tryed the base layer once on a short trip, but my god how warm it is. Easily controlled and not to bulky. Its so long too, that it goes passed the base of your back and over your butt. The only very small issue I had, but no big deal, was the pocket housing the cable and circuitry, is positioned right where the trouser waste band is, so you have to untuck the shirt slightly so its above the belt line (maybe its because i'm a short arse and others may not have this problem) not a show stopper though. I'll still give the shirt a 5 as its awesome.

Tim H: Couldn't have worked better...

Just completed a 10 hour night ride with the Warm and Safe heated base layer. I only needed it set to it's lowest setting, but I have to say it was actually a pleasure to be out in the middle of the night and remain so warm and comfortable. That meant I could concentrate on what matters when riding - keeping safe. So, this definitely does what is says. Highly recommended piece of kit.

`` H: Mr

I have now had the chance to test the Heated Base layer and this is an excellent product, just what I was after. The layer has seven heat pads (two on the back, two on the chest, two on the arms and the neck) the neck pad is really good. As it is a base layer the material is really quite thin and is very comfortable, I prefer a thin T-Shirt under it but can be worn next to the skin. The ability to control the heat is great, turn it up for the Motorway and then turn it down when things get slower, if you don’t turn it down you will get too hot! Definitely recommended.
