Rukka Kallavesi jacket review
Published on: 28 March 2019
The Rukka Kallavesi suit, which is new for 2019 is, in essence, an updating of Rukka’s longstanding adventure suit called the Navigatorr.
The jacket, in concept, is very similar to the version it replaces; it features a mid-length jacket with central, waist adjusters, and two flap pockets below the belt.
Like the Navigatorr, the Kallavesi is made from a Gore-Tex, 3-layer Pro Shell, so the suit will never wet out. You will stay drier for longer, and the suit will always dry quickly.
Armacor panelling increases the abrasion resistance of the suit in the most vulnerable areas and, of course, you get D3O armour in the shoulders, elbows, back, hips and knees.
Much of the other detailing is what you’d expect from Rukka. A 60g. removable, thermal lining, a concealed neck collar that cannot be stolen. And GTX cuffs. The jacket, obviously, zips to the matching Kallavesi pant.
But where the Kallavesi differs most from its predecessor is in its venting. You get vents on the chest, on the sleeves, up the flanks, and in the back. There’s never been such a well vented suit from Rukka.
And, of course, venting is what you need, above all else, on an adventure suit.
For some, a suit with a removable waterproof membrane is more applicable to proper adventure riding but, for those who ride on the road as much, or more than, they do off it, the Kallavesi is probably the perfect suit.
It is in stock now in all sizes. Come and try it on.
