Klim is not like other motorcycle clothing companies. They test everything they design to the point of destruction, and when they’ve found points of weakness they go back to the drawing board and redesign it. Their Covert balaclava is a case in point. A balaclava is a relatively simple product, but Klim’s iteration has been slaved over to make it better than anything else out there. A primary component is a fabric called Windstopper that does what it says it does. But there are swathes of elasticated, stretch fabric to make sure that the Covert fits snugly and comfortably. The fabric also contains Coolmax for the effective wicking of moisture from the head. The Covert tucks in to keep it in place and to stop drafts. In the mouth area, holes have been cut to enable you to breathe freely if you want to wear it over the mouth, but you can also wear the front below the mouth by tucking the elasticated material under the chin. This is a serious bit of kit for those who do a lot of riding in the coldest of conditions. There’s nothing out there that will keep your head and neck warmer; and certainly nothing that does it as comfortably.
