Klim Badlands Pro jacket in grey Product Information

The Badlands Pro is the latest iteration of Klim’s most famous, off-road and adventure-riding jacket. We’re not going to describe it in full, but it’s a 3-layer Pro-Shell jacket with Superfabric and Ripstop for extra strength and abrasion resistance. It comes fitted throughout wit Level 2, D30 armour, no less than a dozen vents, six pockets on the outside alone, a zillion adjusters, a kidney belt and so on. In truth, with its boxy, off-road fit the Badlands is not really our kind of jacket. We are more excited by the Kodiak jacket that has been created more with road riding in mind. But what we have discovered is that anybody who wants to try the Kodiak will want to compare it with the Badlands. Which really is why we are stocking it. But now it’s here. Whether or not you are interested in the Kodiak, we are delighted to be in a position to offer the Badlands Pro too.

Richard: Engineered clothing, possibly overkill but I love it

Firstly a disclaimer. I love KLIM gear, everything I've bought has been excellent. I've been holding off buying this jacket for a while because it is eye wateringly expensive and I simply couldn't justify the price. And then it was discounted....sucker. The first thing you notice is it is heavy. Like HEAVY, it may be a shell but think Tortoise shell rather than snail. It feels engineered rather than stitched. Personally I love that, you might not. The fit is spot on for me, I like the boxy shape as it gives me options for what I wear underneath - down jacket, heated jacket, thin windproof, base layer - what ever. First time out it was a mix of very cold 0-4c and then wet, not torrential but determined. It remained totally waterproof, as you'd expect, for warmth, its a shell, so its what you have under it that determines your temperature. A friend returned his because he didn't like the low collar and wanted a Rukka high neck style. I prefer to choose what I have around my neck according to conditions. Horses for courses. Thankfully I haven't thrown myself at the trail or tarmac yet so cannot report on crashworthiness but it gives me confidence. Hot weather will be interesting, it has a gazillion vents but I'd imagine if you are static or working hard off road it will heat up pretty quick - well see. So far, so good. Its just brilliantly made gear. And therefore expensive.
