Icon Stormhawk boots in black Product Information
The upper of the Icon Stormhawk boot is fashioned from a waterproof treated leather. The waterproof membrane itself comes from eVent. It’s a membrane that is highly regarded in the outdoor and mountaineering world. There are reinforcements in the toe and heel for extra protection. The ankles have D3O pads in them. There are nibs for the gear change, and you get a rubber overlay at the end of the toe. You get a small reflector on the heel. The sole is pretty rugged. There’s a padded shaft for comfort, and you get a couple of loop pulls to help you get the boot on. The USP, though, is the easy-to-use BOA lacing system. It’s simply brilliant. It allows the boot to open up incredibly wide, and makes getting in and out really fast.
The Stormhawk is a very impressive boot. It is superbly comfortable. It’s clearly very protective. Nobody is going to be disappointed by it.

Lee: Waterproof? Not sure, but I still like them!
My Daytona Roadstar boots recently let me down, with the zip on both boots failing within a couple of days of each other while I was on a week long tour. Daytona, via the dealer not MotoLegends, quoted nearly an eyewatering £200 to repair! So I had to look for something different for my forthcoming motorbike camping tour to the Scottish Highlands. I bought the Stormhawks largely based on the YouTube video posted by MotoLegends. They looked ideal - waterproof, breathable, good protection, keenly priced, and I could wear them on short hikes and casually. After 10 days bad weather touring, I can say that the boots almost lived up to my expectations. Most of the time the rain was pouring down, and for the first couple of days my feet stayed dry, even riding through floods. However, later in the week I noticed my fresh socks getting damp. Of course, they are short boots, and I cant say hand on heart whether the rain soaked through, or down from the top, but it needs to be taken into account when considering the purchase. The boots were ultra comfortable, even more so than my Daytonas. I was dubious about the Boa fastening, but Im now sold on them. Easy to put the boots on and take off, easy to tighten, with no trailing laces. These are undoubtedly one of the best bits of kit I have bought, and I didnt need to take an extra pair of walking shoes with my camping gear. I did have to go up a full size though. Im usually 45, but 45 and 45.5 were too small. 46 was just right possibly because one of my feet is a little wide.
