You can wear pretty much you want inside a motorcycle boot, but the important issue, especially if you’re wearing a tall boot, is breathability. If your sock doesn’t breathe, your feet will get wet and sweaty. And whether you’re riding on a hot day or a cold one, that’s a problem. In hot weather, if your socks don’t breathe, the skin won’t be able to sweat effectively, and so they will get hotter and hotter, and sweatier and sweatier. In the cold weather, the lack of breathability will similarly cause your feet to become wet and sweaty. But the problem with this in cold weather, is that heat can escape through a wet environment far faster than it can do through a dry one. So your feet will get colder and colder. The bottom line is that wearing proper, breathable, motorcycle socks is important.

This is Halvarssons’ Warm sock. It incorporates a 33% wool content. Wool is breathable, but it is also very effective at trapping, and therefore insulating, heat.
