Forma Rose HDry ladies boots in black

The Rose HDry is pretty much just a new name for a ladies boot we used to do called the Rose Out-Dry. What made that boot a wee bit special was that it came with a laminated membrane. This is quite rare in a boot, but a boot thus equipped will never wet out. And this means that your feet will always stay dry. And because the boot will never become water-logged, in really cold and wet weather your feet will stay warmer too. We dropped the boot for one reason only. Out-Dry stopped working with boot manufacturers. Well, Forma has now introduced the same boot, but with the similar HDry laminated membrane. Same boot really; just a different membrane.

Another key attribute of the Rose boot is that it didn’t start out as a men’s boot that was reduced in size in the hope that it would fit women. Forma utilises 13 different lasts across its range of boots, three of which are specifically for women, so this is a ladies’ boot designed purely for ladies.

The boot is made with a full-grain leather, and comes with a slightly raised, rubber heel. There’s a gearchange pad on the toe. The top of the shaft is padded for comfort. There are hardened counters in the toe and heel, with protective pucks covering the ankles.

Elasticated, padded baffles in the forefoot and the heel make the Rose an easy and comfortable boot to walk around in. Entry and exit come by means of a full-length zip that is covered by a Velcro flap. A Velcro adjuster belt also allows you to adjust the fit around the calves.

The Rose is not a sexy boot, but you wouldn’t expect it to be. It’s going to be an easy-to-live-with commuting and touring boot. And it should prove to be a particularly waterproof one too.
