John Stetson was a gold prospector who realised he would make more money from hats than from gold. He returned east and set up his company, supplying hats to cowboys and the military. In the twenties and thirties, the newsboy cap became a popular style. McQueen often wore a newsboy cap, and even today the style is popular with motorcyclists.
