Bering Zephyr jacket in black / green Product Information
The Bering Zephyr is undeniably fashioned in the mould of an adventure jacket. It comes equipped with a laminated membrane. Here at Motolegends, that's not necessarily our definition of an adventure jacket, but it certainly is Klim's, so who are we to argue?
The membrane in the Zephyr is two-layer, and is Bering's own. Now, by and large, we are not fans of inexpensive, laminated garments. They are prone to failure. But if you're not a high-mileage, all-weather rider, then a jacket like the Zephyr will probably work perfectly well. Plus, Bering does tend to make reliable gear, so we should perhaps give them the benefit of the doubt.
As a jacket, the Zephyr's got all the features you could want; it is rated A under EN17092, and comes equipped with Level 1 armour in the elbows and shoulders. There's a pocket for a back protector.
Inside the jacket you get a removable, hollow-form fibre, thermal lining. For airflow, there are two vents on the chest. They are covered with flaps, so they won't be the most effective we've ever come across.
One of the things we like most about the Zephyr is the adjustable side straps that allow the jacket to be cinched in, or let out. The straps can also be raised or lowered for more comfort. At the hem of the jacket you'll find zipped gussets to enable the jacket to splay over the lap when you're sat on the bike.
At the ends of the sleeves, you'll find zips and Velcro flaps. You also get volume adjusters on the biceps. There's an adjustable fastener at the collar. There are three external pockets. And two internal ones. The collar is lined with Neoprene for comfort, and to stop the rain from running down the helmet into the jacket.
The jacket has a connecting zip for the matching Zephyr pant, but therein lies a slight issue. The pants look fine, but they only come in one length. The length of pants is adjustable, but we're not fans of how this system works. There's another issue. This is, supposedly, an adventure suit, but the pants are too narrow to accomodate an adventure boot. Our friends across the channel know how to make an adventure suit look the part; they just haven't necessarily figured out how to make it play the part. In truth, this is not a problem for us; we'd wear the Zephyr with a pair of jeans. It's the way to go!
