Helstons Legend boots in waxed tobacco Product Information

The Helstons Legend boot is exclusive to Motolegends. The boot's outer chassis is calfskin. It is also calfskin lined, although layered between the two bits of young cow is a waterproof membrane.

In terms of protection, you get a stiff counter in the heel, soft D3O-like pucks in the ankles, and a super-strong toe box. There's an extra layer of leather across the toe that will serve as a gearchange protector. The boot is CE approved for motorcycling, of course.

Here at Motolegends, we have always liked Red Wings; a lot of people wear them on the bike for a bit of added Steve McQueen style. But the truth is that a pair of Red Wing moc toe boots will offer next to no protection if things go wrong. They're a comfortable boot, but they are not reinforced anywhere, and they're not particularly robust. But the worst thing about riding a motorbike in a pair of Red Wings is that the gear lever will, over time, simply destroy the stitching and the leather that form the boot's distinctive moc toe.

The Legend has a not dissimilar profile to a classic Red Wing boot. It has the same kind of flat sole, and comes in a leather that is close in colour and finish to something like Red Wing's oiled leather in Oro Legacy. Okay, the Legend is not a dead ringer for an 875, but it's not that far off, and it's a way stronger and safer boot to ride in than any Red Wing would ever be.

The Legends are available only in sizes 40-46, by the way.

At this price, they're somewhat less expensive than a pair of Red Wings too!

Gary ogden: Helton Boots

As other reviewers have pointed out these boots take a while break in. Once done a lovely boot on and off the bike.

Andrew Cranmer: Just what I was looking for

I have a pair of Daytona Travel Start Pro boots for winter, wet weather and longer trips, and a pair of Klim Outlander that are my go-to boots. Both superb, but both very obviously motorcycle boots. I wanted something to wear with jeans that I would look like normal boots when off the bike. These fit the bill perfectly. Look great, very comfortable whilst offering a decent level of protection. Im usually size 45, eg in Ecco shoes, and 46 was a perfect fit.

Richard: Helston Boots

These boots are of exceptional quality throughout. It took a few hours of wearing-in to perfectly mould to my feet and are now the so comfortable on and off the bike. They are sturdy enough to feel safe when riding and comfortable enough to wear around the office all day. Usual great service from MotoLegends!
