Halvarssons Torsby leather jacket in brown Product Information
The Torsby is a leather biking jacket from Halvarssons that is based loosely on the US Navy A2 flying jacket.
It is made from a beautifully soft cowhide that has been treated to give it a bit of a beaten-up look. This effect is created by tumbling the leather. Tumbling involves putting the jacket into a large drum like a domestic dryer. This both softens the leather and gives it a patina.
The jacket comes with Halvarssons’ latest, soft, pliable and vented, Level 2 armour in the elbows and shoulders. There’s a pocket for a back protector; and we would recommend a D30 T8. The jacket is rated AA under EN17092, which frankly is all one would expect of a jacket as soft and as nice to wear as this one.
You get two, external flap pockets on the outside of the jacket and one on the inside. What look like two Napoleon pockets inside the jacket are actually holders for Halvarssons’ new chest protectors. One cannot argue that chest protectors can provide an added level of safety, but we cannot help but think that they are not necessarily appropriate for a casual, leather jacket like this.
As with the original A2 jacket, the fur collar can be removed. But whereas, on the original, the fur wrapped around a collar with lapels, on the Torsby removing the fur reveals a knitted, ribbed collar. The other detail that mirrors the original is french ribbing at the waist and at the ends of the sleeves.
As with all Halvarssons’ jackets, there’s a full-length zip that allows the Torsby to be attached to any Halvarssons’ pant. In reality, however, we think that the more likely scenario would be to use the Waist Zip to connect to a pair of jeans.
It comes in sizes 48 (38”) up to 62 (52”).
