What materials are Belstaff motorcycle jackets made from?

Traditionally Belstaff started making wax cotton biking jackets. Now their riding jackets are made of a wax cotton and synthetic mix so that they can be stronger in terms of abrasion resistance without making them too stiff and heavy to wear. Alternatively you can go for the Belstaff leather motorcycle jacket. Still the same traditional styles but made from leather that has been treated so that it feels just beautifully soft to wear whilst still being strong enough to offer proper protection.

The different styles of jacket suit different people but that depends on your physique as well as your motorbike. The Belstaff Trialmaster is quite long. If you are too short it just won't work. The Belstaff Brooklands is the short Steve Mcqueen look but won't work on tall riders or people riding bikes where they are leant forward on the bars. How do I care for my Belstaff motorcycle jacket?

Belstaff biker jackets are no longer made from traditional wax cotton. They also have a waterproof membrane so they do not rely on the wax treatment for their waterproofing. So to keep a wax cotton technical jacket clean just wipe off with a damp cloth. You can apply a little of the wax treatment but it only needs a very light coating. My second Belstaff purchase in 48 years! Bought for summer use so not used yet. What I can say is top quality and stylish. It will obviously be very cool on those hot days. Went for 3XL fits me perfectly. Im 6 and 45 chest but broad shouldered. I had to go for 4XL when I recently purchased the Goodwood jacket.

The Holgs: A Jacket of Exceptional Quality

I wanted to get this older model before the new one with lighter material takes over and the current sale price made it suddenly affordable. My Barbour International is worn out after over thirty years of biking and I was looking for a replacement with integrated armour. Belstaff quality certainly is exceptional and I dont find the thicker material awkward at all - it actually instills a lot of confidence in the safety and durability of the jacket. It doesnt feel too heavy either as I use it as a winter jacket anyway. Hence I went for L instead of my usual M so I can wear a heavy submariner underneath even with the gilet. That also affords a bit more cover around the hips. The D30 armour incl. the additional back armour is comfortable and not too obvious even when wearing the jacket casually or on a winter walk. Altogether very happy with the jacket and Motolegends service - shipping to Ireland was very swift. Five stars all round!
